The United States Department of Defense has identified four of the six American service members killed in a drone strike on a US military base in Kuwait.
The attack occurred Sunday amid escalating hostilities between the United States and Iran.
The Fallen Service Members
The Pentagon named the following soldiers:
-
Captain Cody Khork, 35
-
Sergeant Nicole Amor, 39
-
Sergeant Declan Coady, 20
-
Sergeant Noah Tietjens, 42
Two additional service members have not yet been publicly identified.
The United States Army Reserve said it will investigate the circumstances surrounding the strike.
Trump Warns More Casualties Likely
President Donald Trump described the slain troops as “true American patriots” who made “the ultimate sacrifice.”
In a video statement, Trump warned:
“Sadly, there will likely be more before it ends.”
He said the administration would do “everything possible” to prevent further losses but acknowledged that additional casualties may occur as the war continues.
Broader Conflict Escalation
Since Saturday, US and Israeli forces have launched extensive strikes across Iran, including an attack on the compound of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed during the opening phase of the campaign.
Iran has retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting Israel and US military facilities in the region, including in:
-
Bahrain
-
United Arab Emirates
According to the Iranian Red Crescent, at least 787 people have been killed in Iran since the conflict began. Israeli authorities report at least 10 fatalities.
US Evacuation Efforts
The United States Department of State announced charter flights for Americans seeking to leave the region, including departures from:
-
Saudi Arabia
-
Egypt
Officials say more than 9,000 Americans have already left the Middle East with US government assistance, while another 3,000 have requested help.
Commercial flights remain available in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Oman and Egypt. In countries where aviation options are limited, the US is facilitating ground transport to third countries.
